Digital Transformation represents the opportunity and necessity for industries and organizations (from both the private sector and public sector alike) to adopt digital technology and introduce changes so that they can bring opportunities to fruition and achieve resilience in the wake of foreseeable and unexpected shocks.

Introducing Project Dear

While preparing for her year of service, Incoming District 3830 Governor Joji Tan identified as a priority the need to improve the information and communication technology systems of District 3830. She also sensed that this is a need and priority of the other Philippine Districts. The need was especially pronounced as COVID19 changed the nature of location-based teamwork and gatherings for every and any organization, including Rotary.

Gov Joji consulted her club mate PP Ivy Samson (Transformation Chief of a local conglomerate and Past President of RC Makati Dasmarinas, District 3830); in turn, she suggested that Governor Joji she should seek the advice and assistance of their club mate PP JP de la Vega (CEO of YEAPS, and Past President of RC Makati Dasmarinas, District 3830) because of YEAPS’ work in digital transformation and acceleration . As it happens, Governor Joji and PP JP and YEAPS have a long history of working together for various public good initiatives within Rotary and beyond (such as the Smile Pilipinas Initiative, in partnership with P&G and The University of The Philippines Manila).

JP and The YEAPS Team heeded the call to leadership, which ultimately led to a grant from Microsoft and a grant from YEAPS. The combined grants form the twin pillars of Project DEAR: a quest to enable and accelerate digital transformation for One Rotary Philippines, with an emphasis on modern work and empowered teamwork. DEAR is an acronym for: Digital Transformation, Enabled by Microsoft, Accelerated by YEAPS, Reaching All Clubs Nationwide

A National Digital Transformation Council has been formed and has been working closely together. The council members are:

  • iDG Art Que of District 3770 leading 2,324 members (82 clubs) 

  • iDG Ed Ayento of District 3780 leading 2,600 members (102 clubs) 

  • iDG Willie Serafica of District 3790 leading 2,746 members (95 clubs) 

  • iDG Augie Soliman of District 3800 leading 3,213 members (103 clubs) 

  • iDG Robert Koa of District 3810 leading 2,893 members (112 clubs) 

  • iDG Angie Sunio of District 3820 leading 4,097 members (129 clubs) 

  • iDG Joji Tan of District 3830 leading 3,250 members (109 clubs)* 

  • iDG Edwin To of District 3850 leading 1,385 members (55 clubs) 

  • iDG Anna Louisa Bumagat of District leading 3860 2,669 members (98 clubs)

For the operations dimension, a District Digital Transformation Officer has been appointed for each of the 10 Districts. Altogether, they will work through a collegial body to be known as The National Digital Transformation Team which will be led by PP JP de la Vega, with oversight by The National Digital Transformation Council. The Team will implement policy and protocols for the infrastructure being deployed and oversee club utilization per district

The immediate next step of the council is to produce 10 per-district launches between May 2021 and June 2021. Each launch will provide initial communication and guidance about Project DEAR.

  • The incoming District Governor, the Council, YEAPS and Microsoft will be onhand

  • Each of the 10 per-District launch will be a Live Online event, streamed from this site

  • Each and every Rotarian is invited to her/his District’s Project DEAR Launch

  • Specific schedules and mechanics will be communicated to each district.

  • Please look forward to it and please personally encourage your club mates to attend

Addendum

The grant of Microsoft and YEAPS are intended to modernize work and empower teamwork for the Rotary Clubs and Districts of One Rotary Philippines (Zone 10A). The resources granted should be utilized for this purpose

In time, as you personally become accustomed to (and enjoy) modern work enabled by Microsoft and accelerated by YEAPS; you might see the need to enable and accelerate digital transformation for your own business or for your employer-company

Call on YEAPS, a Philippines headquartered managed partner of Microsoft, to help you do this.

These are the things your organization might need to do, initially, as it embarks on its own digital transformation journey:

  • Schedule an assessment with a YEAPS Customer Success Manager. He or she would present solutions for your goals and needs. Microsoft’s Modern Workplace Solutions (led by Office 365) is the foundation. Industry specific and company specific needs and goals will be served by Microsoft’s powerful array of solutions such as Power Platform, Dynamics 365 and Azure.

  • Your first move thereafter would potentially involve procuring from YEAPS Microsoft Office 365 SaaS for your people.

  • You might also seek to procure from YEAPS hardware such as laptops, notebooks, tablets, phones, printers, conferencing equipment, networking equipment.

  • You might also seek to procure from YEAPS project-based adoption and change management services (ACM) or consulting to help your organization kickstart digital transformation.

  • YEAPS will be your organization’s partner to do all these in the most practical way possible, be it a commercial sector organization (business) or public sector organization (school, government, healthcare provider).
